Facebook's growth out strips other social networking sites

It's like someone built this huge city of knowledge with libraries, communities and other facilities then told everyone "Hey! Come and live in my city it's great!". Then we've all moved into this city (the internet) but all we've done is stayed in this giant pub (facebook).

I like your analogy. Very simple and to the point. I didn't realise how massive Facebook was in comparison to other social networking sites (though of course I knew it was massive).

Thanks.

I am aware of people who have given up their old routines of socialising in real life to become facebook zombies - whittling their online time away mowing virutal farms and poking strangers.

This is worrying behaviour.

In that case, please can you drive me home after I've had a pint or two of real ale?

You might find the real ale insipid and mass produced.

Well said.

Despite my current blog silence, it's NOT because I've disappeared into Facebook. I like it, I use it, but I have my one drink there and go home, y'know?

My blog silence is another story and shall be told another time. Preferably over a pint.

It's useful as a directory for people but beyond that I can't see the appeal. Kind of like a flip up address book that plays a random novelty tune every time you use it.
