This morning my journey from home to Tamworth, a normally 80 minute journey took just under 130 minutes. The roads around here are terrible.
The M1 between...well pretty much Newport Pagnell and Rugby....is at 50 mph.
At the Cathorpe interchange where the M6 meets the M1 it's narrow lanes and average cameras
The A5 is also undergoing a bit of a tarting up too.
This means that all roads to where I need to go are bonkers mad while the infrastructure in the East Midlands gets modernised in time for HS2 (which I don't think will ever get fully built).
This means truckers try to avoid the roadworks at Catthorpe taking shortcuts, idiots avoid the 50mph restrictions on the motorway taking 80mph liberties at busy crossroads and bloody awful weather causes trees or floods to reduce the driveability of the roads.
This morning all things conspired against me despite my early start. Mid way up the A5 I was faced with road closures meaning I had to divert my usual journey through the awful sprawling mess that is Nuneaton. Then there's the roadworks on the A5 too. Gah! Worse still the temporary traffic lights in Tamworth centre...Roadworks roadworks roadworks....
